Mother Nature Painting

Unframed Canvas Sheet Size: 11.5 in’ x 8.2 in’ Description: This painting is a composition of baby silhouette with landscapes with mountains in the middle of the baby silhouette, river in the foreground and a starry sky in the background. The background abstract of various colors to provide contrast to the baby silhouette to make that the focal point. I painted the abstract background with my fingers and used toothbrush to create the desired effect. I painted with quick, short strokes. This is in style of expressionism with the bright colors and quick strokes in the composition of the landscape. The sky is inspired by Van Gogh’s starry night. The similarity is the concentric circles of radiant white and yellow light from the stars and the moon.  Initially, the ripples of water in the painting meant the constant movement and change in nature as well as relation of nature and humans. Now the ripples in the painting it reminds me of the pregnant woman at the paternity ward that told me that a woman is like the sea, just like you throw a rock in the water, it ripples, those ripples expand and constrict. So I think this is same as every time she endures a problem, challenges, or struggles, she grows stronger. A mother is one role in her that just as those ripples expand, every childbirth, she grows aware of the pains and her love expands for children. This is similar to the mother Earth, the Earth is created to keep providing, expanding anything by will of God when we need anything despite all the harmful things we do towards nature. Mother and mother nature (Earth) are those that provide us without wanting anything back which we take advantage of but for both we have responsibilities to take care of them. This is same to the Earth, we are looking the other way while the footprints we are leaving every second have led to drastic impact that will take long time to recover.
