METAMORPHOSIS, 2020, 80x100cm Lines. Lines are everywhere, straight, curved, parallel or zigzag and wavy. One or more. They shape our world and convey messages and feelings. Sometimes they calm you down and signal you to be softer and follow the flow. And sometimes they make you nervous or scare you with their perfect straightforwardness. In either case, lines close and form a shape like an object, or they just keep going until they come to an end. You are also nothing more than a line. A constantly changing line, sometimes straight, sometimes curvy or even zigzag. Most people are a self-contained line, an object with firm principles and views of the possible and the impossible. You should work towards being an open line that is aware of its impermanence, but free and open to life, new possibilities and views, free of prejudice and in harmony with its flow. -silvi

Silvija Kicivoj, born in Zagreb in 1989, lives and works in Düsseldorf since 2008. Already at a young age she was looking for ways to express herself through drawing, painting, writing and later also photography. What serves as a kind of therapy at an early age develops into a passion over the years and takes up more and more real and mental space. Her works today are based on introspection and understanding of the impact of her interpersonal relationships and her environment on her emotions and actions. She brings her thoughts to the canvas with the help of textures, shapes and different materials under the aesthetic influences of everyday life. The works reflect personal struggles, insights, the urge for change and balance.
