About The Artwork
"Layer Cake" is a Giclée print that plays with painterly abstract brush strokes and an incorporated elegant faux frame. The image is taken from paintings of mine, and digitally altered to achieve a clear graphic effect where the wavy brush strokes have a figurative quality, hence the title "Layer Cake". The gilded faux frame adds a classical quality to something very contemporary. I wanted that contradiction to be eye catching, playful and fun. The work is supposed to be pleasing and also at the same time a very defined graphic statement.
