Freedom to choose a of a way of life and what it means is one of the core liberties of being. The nebulous choices we make because of freedom has very real impacts on the quality of life we live. I choose to embrace my freedoms and own my decisions on canvas and in day to day living. This painting has unfinished sides and a gloss varnish.

Painting is meditation. There is a tension between reality and the abstract and I am continuously fascinated by the beauty it creates. When painting realism, I struggle to loosen my control and inverse, when painting abstractly, I desperately seek the familiar. I find the complexity and process of building layers, texture and lines the most satisfying. At the end, perhaps only a suggestion of the original layer remains, but understand that even those layers that are unseen, are a part of the foundation. The painting can not exist without them. I have been painting for more than 20 years now and still have yet to imagine that I know anything about painting. What I do know is my soul and how I feel in this world. A lot of my work is colored by it. I am in the communications field and a graphic designer by day. Painting is a decompression and translator of my inner world. Every painting has a story that reveals a small glimp into a moment or period of my life. I work with molding pastes, inks, acylics, charcoals, oil mediums and glazes.
