About The Artwork

I've been endlessly inspired by the secondary triad color scheme for the past several years; I keep exploring it in it's seemingly endless variations. I wanted to balance out the electricity of the vibrant cadmium orange tree branches with more soothing sage and olive greens, and muted purples. In this painting I am taking my explorations with leaving part of my canvas untouched to utilize light and negative shape in a new way. This leaves space for openness, and flexibility for something expansive to rush in. It creates a unique light in the painting that seems to be emanating from inside of the work itself. There is a hidden figure in the painting, standing on a chair to reach the oranges in the orchard. There are several details of thick abstract gestures of oil paint.
