About The Artwork
I made the Forest series inspired by walking in dense woodland and thinking about old folk tales about a child being lost and tangled in the undergrowth. Partly an emotional response to old memories and childhood fears and also a love of trees, the detail of structures, the way their branches reach into and divide the space above us. The feeling of enclosure under the flickering light as leaves move and the contrast of dark shadows of huge leaf canopies. I hope the viewer will feel slightly lost in this world.
