“Flight of the Dragongly” 60 x 48 inches is a one-of-a-kind original, modern, contemporary landscape nature inspired painting by Juanita Bellavance. In this highly expressive painting Juanita colorful teals, blues and greens lend an impression of nature with fleeting motion reminiscent of dragonflies by water. In the nature-inspired painting, the viewer is invited to enjoy a moment of tranquil reprieve. About the artist: Striving to paint emotion, Juanita Bellavance's goal is to create the awe, the wonder, the experience we feel in nature, in music, in special life moments. That feeling that gives us pause. Having previously been a Music Specialist in public schools Bellavance shares that complex sounds, spaces, textures and tones translate into complex surfaces making a painting very rich. These musical ideas inform all of her work. Sometimes the rhythms are submerged and sometimes they rise to the top. There is a dialogue that develops between herself and the painting. As the layers of paint accumulate so does the meaning. Connections flow and coalesce into magical and mysterious combinations. These actions renew her spirit in the act of creation.

STATEMENT Beginning with a certain amount of chaos and energy to activate the canvas a dialog is initiated. This dialog includes both language/writing and intuitive marks through the use of various drawing media/tools. Then splashes of paint and gentle washes of color are added. It is my intention to bring order, balance and calm to the surface by using multiple layers of pigment. The original “chaotic” gestures can be seen peeking through; just enough to create interest and mystery. BIO Internationally collected Atlanta based artist, Juanita Bellavance, uses her mastery of color and technique to create nature-inspired paintings that provide solace from life’s strife and turmoils. Her art is informed by her study of music and her connection to spirit. Juanita is largely self-taught and is inspired by masters such as Diebenkorn, J.M.W. Turner, Giorgio Morandi, William Thon and others.
