This is an original painting of Enso circle, made with Japanese ink on Chinese rice paper. Enso is a traditional Japanese painting practice, usually completed in one or two strokes. It is a symbol of enlightenment, strength, elegance, universe and emptiness. The artist has to focus and detach himself from the ever-present worries of daily life and let the hand and brush to do the movement. The calligraphy inscription is a Chinese proverb meaning "don't be afraid of moving slow, be afraid of standing still" (不怕慢, 只怕站 - bù pà màn, zhǐ pà zhàn). I painted this enso while thinking (and trying to detach myself, sort of successfully) about life challenges, obstacles to pull through and eventually leave behind. At the end of the day, life is a journey. It's up to you how you make it. The proverb serves as an inspiration to keep practicing until you reach your goals, no matter how slow your progress. The painting is signed, sealed, wet-mounted on backing rice paper and ready to be framed or mounted on a silk scroll. Please use acid-free adhesives when framing.
