Diptych Mimi and Dodo Painting

I painted these two small mixed media portraits on cardboard in 2014. I painted them from imagination and they are about communication and the ability to share and process feelings and psychological states. Today, in the middle of a corona virus lockdown, they have gained for me another layer of meaning. Living during the pandemic seems to me like having lost my voice and my face. People with face masks all over the streets and in all places make me sad - I miss the smiles, I miss the murmuring, the communication, the personalities behind the masks. And still Dodo and Mimi have each other and don't feel alone. Materials: acrylic, oil stick and collage of Chinese newspaper and vintage German magazine excerpts on cardboard. Each of both artworks is 29x19.2cm (that is why both together measure 29x38.4cm). You are purchasing both together because they belong together.
