This is one of a series of painting that I have done featuring the Steinway Concert Grand Piano. I have shown the instrument with various backgrounds and pianists. I have emphasized the reflection of the mechanism of the piano on the underside of the raised top. In this case, the background is a rough brown concrete wall as a contrast to the fine workmanship of the Steinway. I have kept to mostly warm, "earthy" colors. The background has been printed in high definition and laminated to the back of 4 mil. architectural drafting mylar. The piano, pianist, and shadow are painted on the face of the mylar with acrylic paint and india ink. CONCERT GRAND 5 is a one-of-a-kind, original work of art. The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. This painting will be shipped in a tube. The artwork is very easy to mount on any type of board: plywood, masonite, foamboard, etc. I include simple mounting instructions with each piece that I sell and also I include mounting tape, a hanging strip and a drywall hanging device. I am an architect by education, and profession. I have practiced architecture for over three decades. A good deal of my experience as an artist developed from doing architectural plans and illustrations. In addition to my architectural work, I have always enjoyed producing works of "visual art". It has provided a wonderful counterpoint to the precise work involved in architectural drawings: the highly precise vs. the "free and spontaneous". I still work with the same media that I have used in architectural work: India ink, graphite pencil and acrylic paint on archival quality mylar film. I like for my work to show either emotion or action.... Occasionally both. Emotion is usually captured in a close-up portrait or perhaps full figure drawings. Action is depicted in dance or sporting events. Other than that, I don't have any deep philosophical ideas about my art except that I want to produce works that people will enjoy and be proud to have hanging on their walls. Education: Bachelors degree from the School of Architecture and the Arts at Auburn University. Associations: Roswell Fine Art Alliance South Cobb Arts Alliance Spruill Center for the Arts
