About The Artwork
Entered into a competition last year and subsequently achieved top 25 selected artworks. The topic was to reimagine an old master with an African twist. Michelangelo has always been one of my favourite old masters, and here I incorporated a beautiful African woman as the female figure from the monumental enthroned Lybian Sybil from the Sistine Chapel ceiling mural. The painting naturally finished with pink overtones as this represented my recent recovery from breast cancer. I am currently finishing the popular Delphic Sybil from the Sistine Chapel, identical size and with a modern twist using flowers and similar green background.
