Preferring the more biomorphic over the rectilinear, my hybrid modernist sculptures interconnect sculptural, painting, installation and architectural studies. Many of my stretched canvas works have lineage to the Post War New York School and forward architectural practices of the late Zaha Hadid and others. Multiple elements are used exclusively to suggests a transition or to isolate the source from the conclusion. I generally work in a chronologically numbered series recognizing that linear research seems to bear deeper discoveries while telling an evolutionary story. The submitted works are open ended conversations questioning themes regarding diversity, visual kinetics, object pairings, identities and timely narratives pertaining to the concrete world or popular culture. I rely on what I refer to as form signaling and modern color science which tests the psychological and emotional reactions of how we perceive form and color, rather than basing those choices on my personal aesthetic. This task refines the relationship between the viewers' perceptual parameters and their personal associations while offering a multilayered aesthetic experience that allows the works to communicate more universally.
