Baroq_Series consists of a collection of 15 different works based on small gouache paintings on cardboard, made in late 2023 and early 2024. This group of works is born from questions and reflections about the development of my painting within the parameters of abstract painting of the late twentieth century. In this disjunctive I return to my early paintings and return to the study of the baroque masters, with the purpose of rescuing light, space, the visual journey and drama. In this case, the drama without a story, with an open narrative, leaving the viewer the task of completing the work with his or her own imaginary. Process: With a set of five different ellipses selected according to their shape and size, I was assembling relationships and combinations on the plane, these forms suggested spaces and volumes that I was rescuing allowing me to build from my subconscious and imaginary light, color, atmosphere and space in these works.

The foundations Lazo’s upbringing, were in mainly two fields, science and music. Yet, he turned to visual arts at an early age. After broadly defining a visual language for himself between field paint and italian art povera, his encounter with computers allow him to unite his interests in science, music and visual art. Since then he has focused in generating a body of work that encompasses interactive installations, paintings, etchings, music and a variety of media. As he has stated, “The purpose of the work is to allow the body/mind of the observer to resonate with the work. Consider the work a score and the body/mind of the observer becomes the resonating instrument". Statement Somewhere I read that in old Indian philosophy the created universe is a vibrating and pulsating sound, every living creature contribute with its own unique characteristics to this huge and overwhelming music. Western philosophers later alluded to as the “the music of the spheres”. From Pythagoras to Kepler to Kant and today’s String Theory, the concept of a resonating universe continues to this day. Being music my first language I apply music concepts to my visual works. Rhythm, pitch, chromatic hue, tension, chords, tuning and other more unconscious and obscure parameters all play an important part. My aim is to produce a visual-sound, a chromatic vibration that resonates in the body of the observer in an unique and personal way.
