Due to this unprecedented year and COVID, I lost my art studio and along with that, a place to work on large paintings. As part of my practice, I had always kept sketchbooks, and with COVID, the focus of my time from summer 2020 until now has been on noodling away on how to reignite a popular series of paintings I was fortunate enough to sell. My books vary, as I usually find myself gravitating toward some found paper source and then alter the imagery into something that speaks to a current event or situation in my life. At this point, I now have a number of spiral books, as when I started I kept bound books. I quickly realized that the books would increase in thickness due to the collection of paper and paint within. It is within these books that I put a variety of mediums to paper and let myself go; anything from a random idea to conceptualizing a mini series. These books then become my data bank. I find myself returning to early ideas and can easily build upon them, as for some reason, Im able to remember the content of most books. Each sketchbook will be sold separately; each book contains different content.

I'm fascinated by the essence of painting itself—its process, how the paint moves on the canvas, and the vivid expressiveness of colors and textures that create a tangible and emotional bridge between my work and the viewer. The layers of paint invite you into a world of sensation and meaning that's yours to interpret. My approach often involves revisiting and reworking the canvas, much like the way relationships evolve and renew over time. My art reflects my journey—my introspections, connections with others, and, fundamentally, my relationship with painting itself. Human figures frequently emerge in my work, symbolizing the universal experiences of emotion, values, encounters, and the passage of time. These figures capture fleeting moments, bridging the present with the memory of a distant, earlier self. While I play with the balance between reality and imagination, I also embrace the unpredictable, using it to capture your attention and keep you engaged. A recurring theme in my work is visibility, particularly reflecting on my identity as a woman navigating a phase of life that often feels overlooked by society. It's this struggle for visibility, for recognition, that resonates through my art, connecting with viewers on a profoundly personal level.
