A series of sixteen 8 inch round cradled wood panels make up this encaustic mixed media art piece. In the photo they are hanging spaced approximately 3 inches apart making it roughly 40" square, this can be adjusted to fit your space.

There are a variety of techniques used in this series, some have collage elements, others are colored encaustic. A few contain tiny stainless steel nails, oil paint and/or water media.
I use various papers, all are natural fibers and many are hand stained. Each shape is hand cut and then suspended between layers of clear encaustic medium to create a thick translucent surface which draws the viewer into the piece. In areas where the wax application is thickest there is a subtle golden depth to the wax. I use a torch to manipulate and fuse the wax this gives my surfaces a beautifully textured finish.

Encaustic (bees wax & damar resin), water media, ink, paper, gesso and oil on cradled wood panel. Signed, dated and titled on the back. There are lots of yummy wax drips on the sides which are all painted differently, this installation is ready to hang!

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Human behavior fascinates me. I have a background in Mental Health Counseling and more recently, Applied Behavior Analysis. What compels us to do the things we do? More importantly, why do we do some things only once and others repeatedly? It’s about taking in whatever is presented to us, processing it in the most functional way for us at that moment, and then responding to the original stimulus. I feel that I approach each step of my work the same way. My work is a visual representation of an emotional response to all of the things I experience on any ordinary day. It comes from a place of resolution, gratitude and ultimately happiness. There’s no deep social or political commentary to my work, nor am I trying to emulate one of the greats or to match your sofa, it’s simply a series of reactions. I work with acrylic, mixed media as well as encaustic.
