About The Artwork

In my most recent work I make optimal use of the power of color and the simplicity of form. With these two basic elements I can experiment and create endlessly, always looking for the perfect composition. The painted paper gives a beautiful and surprising texture to the artwork. This unique paper collage is made of partly new, painted paper and partly recycled paper and is glued to a wooden panel. The artwork is signed with a stamp on the panel and coated with a UV proof and a slightly water-repellent coating so that dirt can be removed with a soft damp cloth and the sun does not have too much influence on the artwork. But never hang a work of art completely in the sun.

“Where words are sometimes lacking, color and shapes fill that in for me. I play with it like a writer plays with sentences, or a cook with ingredients”. My work is a constant search for balance. I need structure, but I'm terrified of boring. To find a way around this I try to simplify the complexity of life through my art. What do I need now? What is superfluous? It is a constant game of adding & subtracting, of controlling & letting go. The framed shapes give me structure and tranquility. The colors create tension. This is how I try to create the perfect balance. It is a beautiful and sometimes complicated process. As a child I was already attracted by the dynamics of colors and planes. It is therefore not surprising that I attended the University of the Arts in Utrecht and graduated here in 1996. After that I started working as a fashion designer, stylist, designer and trend watcher. In all these disciplines I was also constantly working on color, form and composition. The love for this is simply in my DNA. Nowadays I work full time as an artist
