"Everything Comes on the Train" is one of the paintings from the series Breaking News Project. Breaking News Project is an exploration in different mediums of what news means and what it is in a contemporary society. In the sea of information that we are surrounded by, what is true, credible and relevant to our lives? With a newspaper collage and doodle like drawing I am "breaking news" visually and metaphorically. At the same time I experiment with the concept of the breaking news as the most significant story of the moment. Contrast between abstract drawing and printed word creates a tension between orderly arranged words and intuitive, messy drawing. All together this forms a new visual structure representing a mental conglomerate.

Tijana Bjelajac is a New York/Los Angeles based visual artist. Born in Belgrade, Serbia. Her work includes paintings, installations, set designs for theater and opera. Her work has been exhibited in, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Prague and Belgrade. Tijana is the recipient of several major awards, including the prestigious Kahn Award for extraordinary talents (2007). Artist statement Being present means immersing yourself into your surroundings both consciously and unconsciously. In my artistic practice, I explore that concept by deconstructing reality and capturing the essence of the moment. Through my work, I engage viewers with artistic expressions of my meaningful experiences and observations. I experiment with worlds both abstract and figurative and my paintings are open to an array of possible interpretations. I use oil and acrylic on canvas, collage, oil markers, watercolor and I often combine these techniques.
