This ceramic goddess was a year in the making… Like all kinsugi pottery, she tells a story of embracing flaws and imperfections, and embracing loss and healing what’s broken inside. She is a story of femininity and strength, magic and miracles. The small sculpture was first thrown on the wheel, sculpted and fired to 1000°C. In the Naked Raku firing process, the goddess is pulled from the kiln glowing hot and then placed with combustible material. The sculpture ignites and the smoke blackens the white stoneware clay and creates the black and white crackled effect. This piece broke during the process. She was then glued back together and gold was added to highlight her cracks, known as Kinsugi pottery. Original artwork made in 2022 Size: cm: H 16 | W 14 | D 13 in: H 6 | W 5.5 | D 5
