I believe it's opportune to reconsider how we can creatively repurpose waste materials. In my latest endeavor, I've fashioned a self-portrait using discarded materials sourced from a local stationery store. Among these materials was a batch of vintage handmade paper, over two decades old and delicately faded. Acquiring it at its original price, despite my naivety, seemed appropriate. The project allowed me to recognize the potency of my imaginative faculties, bolstered by my adeptness in the intricacies of photorealistic drawing and painting. My immersion in Art History had already acquainted me with the likes of Vincent Van Gogh. The artwork materialized organically as I embarked on my drawing journey. My color palette selection and application emerged from meticulous contemplation. I made a conscious choice to forgo scissors and tools, relying solely on the dexterity of my nails to tear the paper into minuscule fragments. As the composition progressed, it became evident that the backdrop merited careful consideration. I opted for a textured handmade paper, featuring a crimson exterior and an ivory interior. While my initial intention was to employ the red side, I was struck by the recollection of Van Gogh's signature use of viridian and off-white backdrops. Consequently, I adjusted my approach, combining the off-white and a piece of gently weathered greenish-teal. The pivotal aspect of this endeavor lay in selecting the orientation of the paper fragments. Natural light, with its innate and uncontrollable radiance, informed my choices, rendering the process a harmonious collaboration with the studio's ambient illumination. In crafting this endeavor, my aspiration is that we can acknowledge the artwork's essence, along with its homage to Van Gogh's legacy. Simultaneously, I hope to prompt a reconsideration of paper's utility, thus encapsulating the essence in the title, 'Re-thinking man.'

ARTIST STATEMENT My artistic journey is a dynamic exploration of the convergence between traditional and contemporary techniques, culminating in a visual narrative that dances between the ethereal/surreal and the tangible. Through the interplay of transparent paints on stainless steel, I bring to life a holographic seascape that embodies both movement and stillness. This 2D surface becomes a canvas for my artistic expression, a space where the ocean's rhythmic ebb and flow are preserved in a mesmerizing, everlasting dance. In the realm of my creative process, I wield airbrushes and spray paints as instruments of magic, transcending the limitations of the medium to unveil the boundless potential of stainless steel. With each stroke and spray, I capture the fleeting whispers of water in motion, granting the viewer an ever-shifting experience that transcends time and reality. My process involves an intricate balance between control and spontaneity, mirroring the unpredictable beauty of the Endless seascape itself. Beyond the surface, I delve into the realms of dreams and subconscious landscapes. With oil/acrylics and surreal charcoal drawings, I unveil the depths of the human psyche, manifesting dreams and fleeting thoughts onto the canvas. These explorations of the mind evoke emotions that bridge the gap between the conscious and the unseen, inviting contemplation and connection. More recently, I have fused the intricate precision of photorealism with the vibrant spontaneity of graffiti, drawing inspiration from the works of artists like Marco Battaglini. This amalgamation of styles serves as a testament to the rich tapestry of human expression, where the refined meets the raw, and where the boundaries of artistic conventions are playfully blurred. Through my art, I invite viewers to step into a world where the tangible and the ephemeral coexist harmoniously. With each stroke, spray, and brush, I aim to evoke emotions, provoke thoughts, and ignite a dialogue between the observer and the observed. My work is a symphony of mediums, techniques, and concepts, a manifestation of the intricate dance between the seen and the unseen, the known and the dreamt. Embark on this journey as we navigate through the interplay of holographic textures, colors, and visions. Allow my holographic seascape and surreal dreamscapes to serve as mirrors to your own subconscious, extending an invitation to explore the uncharted waters of your imagination.
